LONDON (Reuters) - Former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona was made bankrupt at the High Court on Thursday after failing to meet tax debts.

The 27-year-old Iceland television ad star failed to pay HM Revenue & Customs the final 82,000 pounds of a 417,000 tax bill despite an earlier adjournment to allow her extra time to come up with the funds.

She had said she was due to earn 472,000 pounds, which would enable her to clear the debts.

The case was adjourned again on Thursday for an hour at the request of her legal team in an eleventh-hour bid to come up with the outstanding money, but the bankruptcy order was issued after it failed to arrive.

Katona was not in court.
