Golf-Hak, 14, becomes youngest player to make European Tour cut
HONG KONG, Nov 21 (Reuters) - Jason Hak, 14, became the youngest player to make the cut at a European Tour event after carding a second successive level-par 70 at the Hong Kong Open on Friday.
At 14 years and 304 days the teenage amateur from Hong Kong beat the record held by Spain's Sergio Garcia by 107 days.
Garcia was 15 years and 46 days when he made the cut in the 1995 Turespana Open.
Hak's level-par total of 140 left him eight shots behind joint leaders Oliver Fisher and Oliver Wilson of Britain, South African Louis Oosthuizen and Thai Chawalit Plaphol.
Among a group of five players one stroke off the pace on 133 was eight times European number one Colin Montgomerie.
"I won here in 2005 and it is a place I feel comfortable with," the 45-year-old Briton told reporters after a round of 65.
"I like the city and feel very safe here and it is amazing how one plays well in a place that you enjoy being in."
