Briefs 2-Australian soccer fullback makes surprise return

Nov 23 (Reuters) - Sports news in brief from around the
world on Sunday:

Soccer - Australian fullback Craig Moore made a surprise
return to action 12 days after undergoing surgery for testicular
cancer.

Moore, formerly with Glasgow Rangers and Newcastle United,
took the field in Queensland Roar's 4-1 rout of the Perth Glory
in the Australian A-League.

Moore, 32, was diagnosed with testicular cancer two weeks
ago and underwent immediate surgery.

Cricket - Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam has credited much of
the success of the India one-day side at home to the type of
balls they use.

"India uses the SG ball at home and it is different from the
Kookaburra ball," Alam said. "The SG is heavier and has a more
prominent seam that lasts longer and helps the spinners grip the
ball and the pacemen to reverse swing on the abrasive pitches in
the subcontinent."

Soccer - English Championship (second division) side
Charlton Athletic have parted company with manager Alan Pardew
after a 5-2 defeat by Sheffield United on Saturday left them in
the relegation zone.

"Alan Pardew has left his position as Charlton manager by
mutual consent," the club said in a statement.
