Intel says responded to EU antitrust charges
BRUSSELS, Feb 23 (Reuters) - Intel Corp (INTC.O), the world's biggest maker of computer chips, said on Monday it had responded to antitrust charges from the European Commission accusing the company of anticompetitive behaviour.
The Commission, competition watchdog of the 27-country European Union, alleged after a raid on Intel's premises in Germany in February 2008 that some of the firm's marketing and pricing practices amounted to an abuse of a dominant position.
A spokesman for the chipmaker said the firm, in a filing to U.S. regulatory authorities, had responded on Feb. 5 to the Commission's charges, known as a statement of objections.
He gave no further details.
The EU's second-highest court in January had rejected an appeal by Intel to delay an October 2008 deadline for it to respond to the charges. (Reporting by Bate Felix, editing by Dale Hudson)
