Collins Stewart gets private equity approach-paper

LONDON (Reuters) - U.S. private equity company Corsair Capital has approached brokerage Collins Stewart (CLST.L) about a possible takeover, The Sunday Telegraph newspaper reported.

Collins Stewart is in talks about a takeover by Japanese securities group Nomura Holdings Inc (8604.T), sources familiar with the matter have said previously.

On August 12. Collins Stewart said tough markets pushed first-half profit down 82 percent said it expected weak conditions to continue into 2009.

Credit headwind
