Sevilla secured third place and automatic qualification for the Champions League when a last-minute header from Diego Perotti earned them a 1-0 home win over Deportivo Coruna.
Atletico Madrid's 4-1 victory at Athletic Bilbao cemented their hold on the fourth and final spot in Europe's top club competition. They need only a draw next weekend at home to Almeria to see off the challenge of fifth-placed Villarreal.
Recreativo Huelva and Numancia were relegated after defeats on Saturday, leaving five teams, Osasuna, Sporting Gijon, Real Betis, Getafe and Real Valladolid, in the battle to avoid the last relegation spot in the final round of matches.
A second-string Barcelona side lost 1-0 at home to Osasuna before celebrating their league title and second-placed Real Madrid suffered a 3-1 defeat by visiting Real Mallorca.
