(Adds Atomenergoprom reaction)

FRANKFURT, Jan 24 (Reuters) - German engineering conglomerate Siemens (SIEGn.DE) plans to set up a nuclear power joint venture with Russia's Atomenergoprom, German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) said on Saturday.

State-owned Atomenergoprom manages Russia's civilian nuclear industry assets and is active in uranium production, nuclear power plant construction and energy generation.

Siemens and Atomenergoprom spokesmen declined to comment.

The FAZ report, citing company sources, comes a day after French financial newspaper Les Echos said Siemens would sell its 34-percent stake in the nuclear power plant unit of France's Areva NP (CEPFi.PA).

Siemens had no comment on the Les Echos report on Friday but said the group's supervisory board would look at its contracts with Areva on Monday ahead of Tuesday's annual shareholders meeting.
