WARSAW, March 25 (Reuters) - A consortium led by Polish builder Hydrobudowa HBWL.WA placed the lowest bid of 428 million zlotys ($127 million) for the construction of a stadium in Gdansk, spokesman for the tender organizer said.

The stadium will be one of the venues for the Euro 2012 soccer championships, which the country is to co-host with neighbouring Ukraine. The final result of the tender will be announced on Friday.

"The lowest bid worth 427.7 million zlotys was placed by the consortium led by Hydrobudowa," Piotr Kruszynski, spokesman for Biuro Inwestycji Euro Gdansk (BIEG) 2012 sp. z o.o. Stadion told Reuters on the phone.

"The highest bid was worth over 520 million zlotys and was placed by China Overseas Engineering Group."

Shares in Hydrobudowa, a unit of a bluechip builder PBG PBGG.WA, gained 0.6 percent to 5 zlotys at 1431 GMT, underperfoming a 3.2 percent rise for Warsaw's WIG index .WIG. PBG was up 0.7 percent.

European soccer's governing body UEFA had in the past criticised Warsaw and Kiev over their sluggish preparations for the tournament. The global crisis has cast a shadow over Ukraine's capability to organise the tournament.

UEFA head Michel Platini is expected to visit Poland and Ukraine in April ahead of the UEFA's executive committee final decision on whether Poland and Ukraine would be ready on time and if so, which cities will host the matches.

The UEFA's decision is expected in May. (Reporting by Piotr Bujnicki; Writing by Adrian Krajewski)
