Mechel Q3 coking coal output doubles q/q

MOSCOW, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Russia's Mechel (MTL.N) said on Friday coking coal production doubled in the third quarter to 3.7 million tonnes from a revised 1.8 million in the second quarter.

In the first nine months of 2009, the company produced 6.6 million tonnes of coking coal, it said in a statement, without giving a comparison with the year-ago figures. Last year, Mechel reported January-September output of 12.4 million tonnes.

"In the third quarter, nearly all of subsidiaries reached pre-crisis level in output volumes, while at some of them the output was even higher," the company said in a statement. (Reporting by Polina Devitt; Writing by Toni Vorobyova, Editing by John Bowker)
