Canfor to restart shift at MacKenzie sawmill
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, May 1 (Reuters) - Canfor Corp (CFP.TO) will resume some operations at its MacKenzie, British Columbia, sawmill this summer in an effort to increase production of value-added lumber, the company said on Friday.
The mill will operate with a single shift and a production capacity of about 80 million board feet. The restart will employ about 60 people.
The mill was idled last June because of weak demand and the closing of a neighboring pulp mill, which had purchased wood chips. The pulp mill remains closed, but efforts have been under way to find a buyer who could restart the operation. (Reporting Allan Dowd, editing by Rob Wilson)
