Union at Freeport Peru mine cancels plan to strike
LIMA, July 3 (Reuters) - The union at Freeport McMoRan's (FCX.N) Cerro Verde mine in Peru has canceled a plan to join a nationwide mining strike, union leader Leoncio Amudio said on Thursday.
Workers had originally voted to go on strike starting Saturday.
Still, Amudio said the union at the mine could hold its own strike next week to push the company to provide better benefits. (Reporting by Teresa Cespedes; Writing by Terry Wade; Editing by Christian Wiessner)
