WASHINGTON, March 3 (Reuters) - General Electric Co (GE.N) has won a $438 million contract modification to supply 90 engines for the U.S. Navy's F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter aircraft, the Pentagon said on Tuesday.

The Navy was exercising an option under an earlier firm, fixed-price contract, the Defense Department said in its daily digest of major contract awards.

Under the contract, GE would supply 90 F414-GE-400 engines and 90 F414-GE-400 device kits for the U.S. Navy's F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter aircraft, as well as 26 engines and device kits for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).

Work on the contract would continue through April, 2011, it said. (Reporting by Andrea Shalal-Esa; Editing by Tim Dobbyn)
