NEW YORK, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Marathon Oil Corp (MRO.N) said a gas condensate depropanizer was shut Tuesday due to a power disruption at its 72,000 barrel-per-day refinery Texas City, Texas, according to an environmental filing on Wednesday.

"Disruption in power caused closure of emergency isolation valves to storage spheres. This resulted in high pressure in the gas con depropanizer causing a relief valve to open to the flare," Marathon said in the filing.

"The gas con depropanizer was shutdown so the relief valve would reseat," added the filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

The unit was part of a process to convert propane into gasoline, said Marathon spokeswoman Linda Casey, who declined to release further information. (Reporting by Haitham Haddadin; Editing by John Picinich and Lisa Shumaker)
