Kramer Levin to represent GM's unsecured creditors
NEW YORK, June 4 (Reuters) - Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP has been retained to represent the official committee of unsecured creditors in the bankruptcy case of General Motors Corp GM.NGMGMQ.PK, a spokesman for the law firm said on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the U.S. trustee for the carmaker selected a 15-member committee of general unsecured creditors, which includes creditors such as the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp, Wilmington Trust and the United Auto Workers union.
Kramer Levin is also representing unsecured creditors in the bankruptcy of automaker Chrysler LLC and served as legal counsel to American International Group Inc (AIG.N: Quote, Profile, Research) for the insurer's recent deal to sell its Argentine consumer unit.
GM filed for bankruptcy on Monday in the third-biggest filing in U.S. history and the largest ever in U.S. manufacturing.
Lawyers Kenneth Eckstein and Thomas Mayer will head Kramer Levin's team in the GM case.
