MANAGUA, Nov 5 (Reuters) - Hurricane Ida weakened to a tropical storm as it churned into Nicaragua on Thursday with roaring winds and driving rains, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

The NHC said neighboring Honduras should also monitor the progress of Ida, which cut off power and tore up roofs in islands off Nicaragua's Caribbean coast. (Reporting by Ivan Castro, Editing by Sandra Maler)
