UPDATE 1-Spectra Energy Q3 profit falls, but tops Wall St.

* Q3 EPS of 30 cents tops Wall St view of 26 cents

* Revenue off 14 pct to $933 million

NEW YORK, Nov 5 (Reuters) - Natural gas pipeline company Spectra Energy Corp (SE.N) posted a 35 percent drop in third-quarter profit as energy prices slumped from a year earlier, but it topped Wall Street forecasts.

Spectra, based in Houston, had income of $191 million, or 30 cents per share, compared with $296 million, or 48 cents per share a year ago.

On that basis, Wall Street analysts on average had expected Spectra to report a profit of 26 cents a share, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Revenues fell 14 percent to $933 million.

The company said it remains on track to meet its full-year forecast for earnings per share of $1.15, slightly above the $1.14 per share that analysts have forecast. (Reporting by Matt Daily, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
