NEW YORK, July 8 (Reuters) - The Australian dollar extended losses against the U.S. currency on Wednesday as declines in stocks and worries about global growth led traders to shun risk and sell higher-yielding currencies.

The Australian dollar fell as low as $0.7726 AUD=EBS, according to Reuters data. It was last down 2 percent at $0.7734. (Editing by James Dalgleish) (wanfeng.zhou@thomsonreuters.com; Tel: +1 646 223 6304; Reuters Messaging: wanfeng.zhou.reuters.com@reuters.net))
