CALGARY, Alberta, April 9 (Reuters) - Suncor Energy Inc (SU.TO) said on Thursday the sulfur recovery unit at its 70,000 barrel per day refinery at Sarnia, Ontario, leaked sulfur dioxide, but there were no injuries and no impact to production at the facility.

Suncor cleared the facility of employees and contractors following the release but they have since returned. The cause of the leak is under investigation. (Reporting by Scott Haggett; editing by Rob Wilson)
