UPDATE 1-Ida shuts 30 pct Gulf of Mexico oil, 27.5 pct gas

HOUSTON, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Tropical Storm Ida has shut 29.6 percent of
oil production and 27.5 percent of gas output from the Gulf of Mexico, the
U.S. Minerals Management Service said Monday.

A total of 384,642 barrels per day (bpd) of oil production and 1.925
billion cubic feet per day (Bcfd) of gas output has been shut, the MMS
reported in a news release.

Some 126 platforms, 18.1 percent of the total in the Gulf, and eight
drilling rigs, 12.1 percent of the total operating in the Gulf, had been
evacuated, MMS said.

Total Gulf output prior to the storm threat was 1.3 million bpd of oil
and 7 Bcfd of gas.

The Gulf accounts for 25 percent of U.S. domestic oil production and 15
percent of U.S. domestic natural gas output.
