FedEx sees biggest-ever peak day in December
* Says Dec. 14 will be biggest-ever shipping day
* Sees shipping more than 13 million packages on Dec. 14
NEW YORK, Nov 10 (Reuters) - FedEx Corp (FDX.N) said its busiest day of 2009 would be its busiest day ever, in another positive sign for the economy as holiday shoppers bombard the package delivery company with gifts.
FedEx anticipates shipping more than 13 million packages on Dec. 14 -- almost twice the volume on an average day and 1 million more than it shipped on last year's peak day, said Mike Glenn, executive vice president for market development.
The increase does not signify a full economic recovery, but it is still an indicator of gathering strength along with an increase in the manufacture of durable goods and a rise in home sales, Glenn said. (Reporting by Helen Chernikoff; Editing by Lisa Von Ahn)
