UPDATE 1-MMS says 43 pct Gulf oil, 28 pct gas shut by Ida
HOUSTON, Nov 10 (Reuters) - More than 43 percent of Gulf of Mexico oil production and nearly 28 percent of natural gas output remained shut on Tuesday after Tropical Storm Ida blew through the region, the U.S. Minerals Management Service said.
Some 560,199 barrels per day (bpd) of Gulf oil production, or 43.09 percent of the total 1.3 million bpd, was shut as the storm went ashore near Mobile, Alabama, early Tuesday, MMS said. That was up from 384,642 bpd or 29.6 percent Monday.
Some 1.957 billion cubic feet per day (Bcfd) of gas, or 27.96 percent of the total 7 Bcfd, also was shut. That was up from 1.925 Bcfd and 27.5 percent Monday.
Energy companies reported little or no damage to Gulf facilities from the storm and said they were moving quickly to restore operations by Wednesday.
The MMS also reported 158 platforms, or 22.8 percent of the 694 manned platforms in the Gulf, were evacuated at the peak. That was up from 126, or 18.1 percent, Monday.
