HOUSTON, Feb 10 (Reuters) - An instrumentation problem is suspected in causing an upset on a sulfur unit at the ConocoPhillips (COP.N) 247,000-barrel-per-day (bpd) refinery in Sweeny, Texas, according to a notice filed with state pollution regulators.

The upset on the refinery's SCOT unit began on Saturday night and continued until early Sunday morning, according to the notice filed with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

"Called out instrument techician and made necessary repairs to get unit back up and running as quickly as possible to minimize emissions," was the action taken by the refinery to resolve the problem, according to the notice. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Braden Reddall)
