Obama vows to fight piracy, salutes freed U.S. captain
WASHINGTON, April 12 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said the United States was resolved to end piracy off the shores of Somalia and welcomed the rescue of cargo ship captain Richard Phillips on Sunday.
"I share the country's admiration for the bravery of Captain Phillips and his selfless concern for his crew. His courage is a model for all Americans," Obama said.
"I am also very proud of the efforts of the U.S. military and many other departments and agencies who worked tirelessly to secure Capt. Phillips's safe recovery." (Reporting by Randall Mikkelsen)
