LOS ANGELES, Jan 12 (Reuters) - New Generation Biofuels Holdings Inc (NGBF.O) will not decide on whether to build its first commercial scale biofuels plant in 2009 until the middle of the year, the company's chief executive said on Monday.

The decision hinges on whether the company is able to secure the $8.5 million it needs to build the 25 million gallon plant, CEO David Gillespie said in an interview.

"We haven't got a time that we're committed to on the 25 million (gallon plant)," Gillespie said. "We're going to wait and see on that and toward the end of this year would be my expectation."

As recently as November, the company said the plant could be completed in mid-2009, depending on the availability of necessary financing.  Continued...
