UPDATE 1-Gulf Mexico oil, gas flow nearly restored post-Ida
(Recasts, adds detail)
HOUSTON, Nov 12 (Reuters) - About 2.2 percent of Gulf of Mexico oil output and less than 2.7 percent of natural gas remained shut on Thursday in a nearly complete recovery from storm Ida, the U.S. Minerals Management Service said.
The numbers were down from 30.86 percent of oil and 7.6 percent of gas shut on Wednesday, the MMS said in its final "continuity of operations" report after Ida.
At the peak, MMS reported 43 percent of Gulf oil output and 31 percent of gas production were shut on Tuesday as a precaution while Ida moved through the Gulf.
Ida, once a Category 2 hurricane, weakened before coming ashore near Mobile, Alabama, early Tuesday as a tropical depression. Energy companies, who began shutting in production on Sunday, reported little or damage to offshore facilities and promised rapid restoration of flows.
MMS said 28,889 barrels per day (bpd) of oil, 2.22 percent of pre-storm output of 1.3 million bpd, and 0.186 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) of gas, 2.66 percent of pre-storm production of 7 bcfd, remained shut two days after the storm.
The MMS also reported 1 production platform still evacuated, or 0.1 percent of the total of 694 manned platforms in the Gulf. That was down from 17 (2.45 percent) on Wednesday.
No drilling rigs remained evacuated, compared with four, or 6.06 percent of the total of 66 operating in the Gulf, on Wednesday. (Reporting by Erwin Seba and Bruce Nichols; Editing by Marguerita Choy)
