Erotic French "Mistress" coming to U.S.

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - IFC Entertainment has acquired all North American rights to Catherine Breillat's erotic French drama "The Last Mistress," starring Italian actress Asia Argento.

The movie will have its North American debut next month at the New York Film Festival. It premiered at Cannes in May.

Argento plays the title character, a Spanish temptress whose relationship with her longtime Parisian beau (Fu'ad Ait Aattou) is tested after he marries a member of the French aristocracy (Roxane Mesquida). The film is based on the 1851 novel by Jules-Amedee Barbey d'Aurevilly.

Breillat is known for such sexually frank films as "Fat Girl," "Sex Is Comedy," "Romance" and "Anatomy of Hell."
