NEW YORK, July 15 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose broadly on
Wednesday, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq index .IXIC up more
than 3 percent, as strong results from chip maker Intel Corp
(INTC.O: Quote, Profile, Research) lifted hopes for an upward turn in the economy.

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI rose 205.11 points,
or 2.45 percent, to 8,564.60. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index
.SPX gained 22.38 points, or 2.47 percent, to 928.22. The
Nasdaq Composite Index soared 54.68 points, or 3.04 percent, to
1,854.41.
