NEW YORK, July 15 (Reuters) - ConocoPhillips (COP.N) said on Wednesday it had a "minor incident" at its 285,000 barrel-per-day Bayway oil refinery in Linden, New Jersey.

"Yesterday, we reported a minor incident at the Bayway refinery in Linden, N.J. There have been no commercial or off site impacts," a spokesman told Reuters in an email.

He declined to give details on how the incident affected the refinery's operations.

The company had previously filed a notice with state environmental regulators referring to "an air release of SO2 due to unit shutdown" and a Reuters witness said flaring was visible from the complex.
