CANADA STOCKS-TSX little changed, Nexen falls on profit drop

TORONTO, July 16 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index was little changed on Thursday morning as lower energy prices weighed, but the fall was offset by steady gold prices.
The energy sector was down 0.56 percent as the price of oil fell to around $60 a barrel. Oil company Nexen Inc (NXY.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) was the index's biggest heavyweight decliner, down 7.6 percent at C$21.39 after reporting a 95 percent plunge in quarterly profit. [ID:nBNG64586]
Suncor Energy (SU.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) shares fell 0.43 percent to C$32.47, and EnCana Corp (ECA.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) was down 0.13 percent at C$54.52.
At 10:19 a.m. (1419 GMT), the S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 8.75 points, or 0.09 percent, at 10,206.71. Six of its 10 main groups were lower.
"There doesn't seem to be anything really standing out today. I guess it's a bit of the summer doldrums," said Sal Masionis, stockbroker at Brant Securities. Continued...
