NEW YORK, July 16 (Reuters) - Some U.S. stocks on the move on Thursday:

JPMORGAN CHASE & CO (JPM.N)

The bank said investment banking and trading drove a larger-than-expected 36 percent jump in quarterly profit despite a surge in credit card and loan losses that could worsen. [ID:nN16338928]

Shares of the Dow component slid 2.3 percent to $35.40.

AMERICAN EXPRESS CO (AXP.N)

JPMorgan upgraded AmEx to "neutral" from "underweight," expecting lower expenses and loss provisioning to buttress earnings despite an expected contraction in revenue.

Shares of the Dow component fell 1.2 percent to $26.90.
