Mexican stocks jump on Cemex gains
MEXICO CITY, Sept 17 (Reuters) - Mexican stocks jumped on Thursday, boosted by gains in cement giant Cemex (CMXCPO.MX: Quote, Profile, Research) on bets the major U.S. supplier will benefit from an economic recovery in the United States.
Mexican financial markets were closed on Wednesday for a national holiday, when stocks on Wall Street soared and Cemex's New-York-traded stock (CX.N: Quote, Profile, Research) gained almost 8 percent.
The IPC stock index .MXX rose as much as 1.72 percent in opening trade to 30,133 as Cemex stock jumped more than 7 percent to as high as 18.62 pesos. (Reporting by Michael O'Boyle; Editing by James Dalgleish)
