DETROIT, June 17 (Reuters) - Struggling No. 1 U.S. trucking company YRC Worldwide Inc (YRCW.O: Quote, Profile, Research) has obtained a new amendment to its credit facility that will help it make pension fund payments, according to Reuters Loan Pricing Corp.

Under the amendment, the company's seventh such agreement, YRC will apply some of the secured properties and assets in its credit facility to a second lien facility for those payments, RLPC reported.

According to the report, Overland Park, Kansas-based YRC will be using a portion of an escrow account to make payments on its pension fund and to prepay its $950 million revolving credit facility.

Representatives of YRC were unavailable to comment on the RLPC report.

The company has to make monthly payments of between $30 million to $35 million to meet its pension obligations.

According to RLPC, lenders have been asked to sign up to the new amendment by Friday, although majority consent has already been received.

Like the rest of the U.S. trucking sector, YRC has been hit hard by the U.S. recession. The company has closed some facilities and shed jobs. In January, its Teamsters union-represented workers also agreed to a 10 percent pay cut in return for a 15 percent stake in the company. (Reporting by Nick Carey; editing by Andre Grenon)
