Southern Copper says strike suspended in Peru
LIMA, July 20 (Reuters) - A strike planned to start on Monday at Southern Copper's (PCU.N)(SPC.LM) Peruvian mine Cuajone has been suspended, a company official said late on Sunday.
Alberto Giles, the company's human resources director, also said that the union at its Ilo smelter was also expected to cancel plans to strike starting on Wednesday.
Union officials were not immediately available for comment.
Southern is one of the world's largest copper producers and has been hit by strikes this year in Peru as workers demand a larger slice of the country's economic boom. (Reporting by Terry Wade; Editing by Kim Coghill)
