Briefs 3-Columbus center Brassard to miss rest of NHL season

Ice hockey - Columbus Blue Jackets center Derick Brassard will undergo surgery for a dislocated shoulder and miss the rest of the season, the team said on Monday.
Brassard, 21, was injured during the first period of last Thursday's 6-5 shootout loss at Dallas shortly after scoring his 10th goal of the season.
Soccer - Newcastle United striker Michael Owen will make a decision about his future at the club at the end of the season, Sky Sports news reported on Monday.
The 29-year-old England international has been offered a three-year deal as he is out of contract next June.
Soccer - Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has signed a new contract with the Primera Liga leaders that extends his current deal by four years through June 2013, the club said on Monday.
"I am very happy, it's what I have dreamed about since I was little," Busquets, 20, said on the club's website (www.fcbarcelona.com). The new contract has a buy-out clause worth 80 million euros ($112 million), the club said. ($1=.7141 Euro) (Editing by Rex Gowar)
