UN's Ban urges halt to use of force in Iran
UNITED NATIONS, June 22 (Reuters) - U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged an immediate stop on Monday to "arrests, threats and use of force" against civilians in Iran following the country's disputed presidential election.
A statement issued by Ban's press office said he was dismayed by the post-election violence and called on Iranian authorities to respect basic civil and political rights. (Reporting by Patrick Worsnip; Editing by Sandra Maler)
