Judge dismisses NRG lawsuit against Exelon

NEW YORK, June 22 (Reuters) - A U.S. judge has dismissed an NRG Energy Inc (NRG.N) lawsuit against Exelon Corp (EXC.N), saying NRG's arguments were without merit.

NRG had sued in an attempt to force Exelon to admit that its hostile takeover bid was only an attempt to force a negotiated deal with the independent power producer.

Judge John Koeltl of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York dismissed the case on Friday, but the order was not posted publicly until Monday.

Exelon said in a statement that it was still committed to the NRG deal.

In response, NRG said it "continues to believe that Exelon's proposal significantly undervalues" the company. (Reporting by Michael Erman; Editing by Gary Hill)
