* Juniper shares rise 3.66 pct

NEW YORK, June 24 (Reuters) - Juniper Networks Inc JNPR.O clinched a deal with NYSE Euronext (NYX.N) (NYX.PA) to build a faster trading system, showing there was still demand for advanced network equipment despite a global economic slowdown.

Chief Executive Kevin Johnson said Juniper was in talks with other organizations, suggesting more sales opportunities after the company expanded its focus earlier this year from phone service providers to a broader range of customers.

"This is representative of the kinds of discussions we are having with financial institutions and other large organizations with similar needs," he told Reuters in an interview on Wednesday.

Juniper shares rose 3.66 percent to $22.67 after the news.

The company, which makes most of its revenue from selling high-performance routers and switches to direct data traffic, said it would help design a more advanced network for the exchange's new data centers in New York and London.

It said the network will support several billion daily transactions and quotes across various asset classes, with extremely low latency, or fewer delays in data transmission.  Continued...
