US STOCKS SNAPSHOT-Wall St drops with financials, dollar rises

NEW YORK, Oct 26 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks ended down for a second straight session on Monday as investors ditched shares of financial companies and home builders on fears that a federal home buyer tax credit might be phased out, while commodity stocks wilted under pressure from the stronger U.S. dollar.

Based on the latest available data, the Dow Jones industrial average .DJI fell 104.22 points, or 1.05 percent, to end unofficially at 9,867.96. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX was down 12.65 points, or 1.17 percent, to finish unofficially at 1,066.95.
