LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Hilary Swank's 2S Films production company has picked up the screen rights to Emily Giffin's 2005 debut novel, "Something Borrowed," as well as its sequel, "Something Blue."

"Borrowed" centres on a Manhattan attorney who becomes involved with her best friend's fiance after her 30th birthday. "Blue," published a year later, told the same basic story but from the point of the view of the best friend, a shopaholic publicist.

The project is a potential starring vehicle for Swank. 2S, which the actress heads with her producing partner, Molly Smith, has been busy acquiring material and developing it in-house since setting up shop at Alcon Entertainment in June. "Borrowed" is the first project that will be financed and developed at Warner Bros.-based Alcon.

Giffin, a lawyer-turned-writer, also wrote the chick-lit books "Love the One You're With" and "Baby Proof."
