BOSTON, July 29 (Reuters) - Parametric Technology Corp (PMTC.O) said on Tuesday it won a contract to provide design collaboration software for aerospace giant EADS (EAD.PA), beating out rivals Dassault Systemes SA (DAST.PA) and Siemens AG (SIEGn.DE).

Parametric declined to disclose the value of the deal, saying EADS, the maker of Airbus airplanes and Eurocopter helicopters, asked that the information be kept confidential.

Parametric Chief Executive Richard Harrison said in an interview the contract has the potential to be the single largest deal in the company's 23-year-old history.

"If we execute on the contract in terms of software, services and maintenance, it could be, and would be, the biggest contract we've had," he said.

When asked to put that into context, he said Parametric has had customers that have generated tens of millions of dollars a year in revenue. The Needham, Massachusetts-based software maker reported $942 million in revenue last year.

EADS, which is working on the Ariane and Galileo space programs as well as the Eurofighter consortium, will use Parametric's Windchill collaboration software to link tens of thousands of engineers, manufacturing workers and suppliers across its divisions.

That will help EADS save money, develop products more quickly and improve product quality, EADS Chief Technical Officer Jean Botti said in a statement. (Reporting by Jim Finkle; editing by Jeffrey Benkoe)
