NEW YORK, March 28 (Reuters) - H&R Block Inc (HRB.N: Quote, Profile, Research), the tax preparation company that ousted its chief executive amid subprime mortgage losses, said on Friday it had named Becky Shulman chief financial officer.

Shulman has been acting chief financial officer since Nov. 5, 2007.

On Nov. 20, the company said it was replacing Chairman and Chief Executive Mark Ernst.

H&R Block recorded big write-downs in its Option One subprime mortgage business, but earlier this month said it was selling the servicing portion of the business, which collects payments from borrowers, to Wilbur Ross for $1.1 billion. (Reporting by Dan Wilchins; Editing by Gary Hill)
