UPDATE 2-Mexico shuts Dos Bocas oil port on weather forecast
(Adds port still shut in afternoon update)
MEXICO CITY, Jan 30 (Reuters) - Mexico shut the Dos Bocas oil exporting port in the Gulf of Mexico on Friday as a cold front moved into the region and threatened bad weather, a port official said.
Dos Bocas is one of three ports that handle the bulk of Mexican oil exports.
Unanticipated delays to oil exports can force state energy company Pemex to curtail production as Mexico has limited storage capacity at its oil installations. Mexico is a top supplier of crude to the United States.
"The forecast is for bad weather," said port official Angel Antonio Gonzalez.
The port closed at 6:15 a.m. (1215 GMT), Gonzalez said.
Dos Bocas was still closed in the afternoon, according to a government statement. (Reporting by Jason Lange, Catherine Bremer and Cyntia Barrera Diaz)
