Baker Hughes-US rig count up 50, Canada down 10
NEW YORK, Nov 30 (Reuters) - The number of rigs searching for oil and gas in the United States rose 50 to 1,823 in the week ending Friday, oil services firm Baker Hughes said.
During the same week last year there were 1,717 rigs active.
The number of rigs in the Gulf of Mexico fell one to 61, compared with 82 last year.
The number of rigs exploring for oil and gas in Canada fell 10 to 381. Last year there were 442 rigs active.
There were 346 directional rigs operating along with 456 horizontal rigs and 1,021 vertical rigs.
The number of rigs searching for oil rose 11 to 354 while the number of rigs searching for gas rose 39 to 1,463. There were six miscellaneous rigs operating, unchanged from last week
The number of rigs operating in Texas rose 13 to 872 while the number in use in Louisiana fell three to 162.
