FACTBOX-The murder of Jill Dando
LONDON (Reuters) - Barry George, jailed for murdering BBC presenter Jill Dando in 1999, won an appeal to overturn his conviction on Thursday and now faces a re-trial.
Here are five facts about Dando and the case:
* Dando, 37, host of "Crimewatch UK" and "Holiday", died after being shot in the head on her doorstep in Fulham, west London, on April 26, 1999
* After working on local newspapers in her home town of Weston-super-Mare, she moved to BBC Radio Devon before joining the BBC's national news service
* At the time of her death she was engaged to gynaecologist Alan Farthing, whom she met on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend
* Speculation about who murdered Dando has been rife. Theories includes a stalker, ex-lover or a Serbian hitman angry that she had made a televised appeal on behalf of Kosovan refugees
* Unemployed George was charged with Dando's murder on May 29, 2000. He was found guilty of murder two years later.
