(Reuters) - Factbox on Melaine Walker (Jamaica) who won the Olympic gold medal in the women's 400m hurdles on Wednesday.

Walker celebrated her victory on the same night fellow Jamaican Usain Bolt became the ninth man to achieve an Olympic double in the 100m and 200m men's finals.
The hurdle race became an open contest earlier this year after world record holder Yulia Pechonkina of Russia and world champion Jana Rawlinson of Australia both pulled out of the Olympics due to illness or injury.
Walker represented Jamaica at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton while still at high school.
