BRUSSELS, July 4 (Reuters) - The following are proposed mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures under review by the European Commission, and a brief guide to the EU merger process:

APPROVALS AND WITHDRAWALS:

-- French mining and metallurgical group Eramet (ERMT.PA) buys part of Tinfos, a Norwegian company active in metal (notified May 29/deadline July 3)

NEW LISTINGS:

-- VION Food Group of the Netherlands buys control of the operative subsidiaries of Grampian Country Food Group of Britain (notified June 25/deadline July 31)

-- Goldman Sachs (GS.N), a U.S. investment group, purchases residential real estate group LEG of Germany and several Westphalia companies in the same business (notified July 1/deadline Aug 6/simplified)
