Goldman buys $50 mln stake in Korea wind energy firm
SEOUL, Jan 7 (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs (GS.N) bought a stake in CS Wind Corp for 47.2 billion won ($50.13 million), becoming the second-largest shareholder in the unlisted South Korean energy equipment company, CS Wind said on Monday.
CS Wind, a steel wind tower and wind tower component manufacturer, said in a statement that it would use the investment to further expand manufacturing capacity in China and Vietnam.
CS Wind said it was Goldman's second wind energy-related investment in South Korea after Pyeong San (089480.KQ), a large forged metal parts manufacturer for wind turbines, shipbuilding and chemical plants.
Goldman has invested more than $1.5 billion worldwide in alternative energy-related companies, CS Wind said. ($1=941.5 Won) (Reporting by Cheon Jong-woo; Editing by Sei Chong)
