Briefs-Lagat to meet Mottram at Prefontaine Classic

Athletics - American double world champion Bernard Lagat will renew his rivalry with Australian record holder Craig Mottram when they race over two miles at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, on June 8.
Lagat won 1,500 and 5,000 metres gold at last year's world championships with an injured Mottram finishing 13th in the longer race.
Soccer - Dutch coach Jan Mak has been handed a short-term contract to take charge of the Seychelles' opening World Cup qualifiers over the next six weeks, the Seychelles Football Federation said.
Mak, who is on the coaching staff at Swedish club Elfsborg and spent most of his career working in Scandinavia, will take charge of matches against Burundi on June 1, Tunisia on June 8 and two against Burkina Faso on subsequent weekends in the African zone qualifying Group Nine.
Soccer-Former Dutch international Patrick Kluivert could become Lille strikers' coach, head coach Claude Puel told French sports daily L'Equipe.
"He has always been positive. I am very satisfied that he joined the club. He would be a very good teacher," said Puel.
Kluivert, 31, joined Lille from PSV Eidhoven last summer and scored four goals from 13 Ligue 1 appearance this season.
Soccer - Paul Put, banned in Belgium last year for his part in an alleged match-fixing scandal, has signed a one-year contract to coach Gambia's national side.
The 51-year-old signed the contract in Banjul this week and will be in charge of the small west African country's opening African zone qualifying Group Six tie against Liberia in Monrovia on June 1, the Gambian Football Association said.
