Golf-Stroud vaults into Texas Open lead
HOUSTON, Oct 10 (Reuters) - American Chris Stroud fired a six-under 64 to surge to a two-stroke lead after two rounds of the Texas Open in San Antonio on Friday.
His 10-under total has him just ahead of Paul Goydos (66), Tim Petrovic (65) and Tim Herron (67), who are tied for second at eight-under.
Australia's Matt Jones and South African Rory Sabbatini head a chasing pack of nine players a shot further back.
Stroud is seeking his first PGA Tour victory, with his previous best finish at last season's Zurich Classic of New Orleans, where he tied for fifth.
Overnight leader Nathan Green of Australia, who shot a blazing 62 on Thursday, struggled on Friday with a five-over-par 75. The cut was made at one-under 139.
Champion Justin Leonard just made the cut after a 69 to follow up his first round of 70 and is nine shots off the lead.
