Briefs 3-Rugby-Waikato's May suspended for three weeks

Rugby union - Waikato Chiefs front row Ben May was banned for three weeks by southern hemisphere governing body Sanzar in Durban for stamping, a statement on Monday said.

May was red-carded in Saturday's Super 14 match between the Chiefs and South Africa's Lions in Johannesburg for stamping in the face of loose forward Joe van Niekerk.

Soccer - Heerenveen secured their fourth successive UEFA Cup qualification when a 2-2 draw at NAC Breda on Monday gave them a 4-2 aggregate victory in their Dutch League playoff.

NAC will now face NEC Nijmegen over two legs with a UEFA Cup ticket for the winners and entrance into the Intertoto as consolation for the losers.

Soccer - All but one of the games on Serie A's final weekend of the season will take place next Sunday at 1300 GMT after the Italian league rejected a plea from Sky television to move the matches to the evening.

The league said in a statement that only Sampdoria against Juventus would be shifted to 1300 on Saturday because Pope Benedict is in Genoa on the Sunday.
